IRCTC partners with Swiggy for pre-ordered train meals, to deliver food at these four railway stations
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced that it has tied up withSwiggyFoods for the supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals to train passengers. This service will be available to users throughIRCTC’s e-catering portal.“The eCatering service through Bundl Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Swiggy Foods) may be available soon,” the IRCTC said in a stock exchange filing.According to the railway catering service, this facility will be launched soon at Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnamrailway stationsin the first phase.“The IRCTC has tied up with Bundl Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Swiggy Foods) for supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals through IRCTC e-catering portal as a PoC (proof of concept) in the first phase at four railway stations — Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam,” it said.In October last year, IRCTC partnered with Swiggy’s rival food delivery platform Zomato for the supply and delivery of pre-ordered food at different railway stations. IRCTC announced that train passengers can avail of the services at selected stations, including New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi.Under this PoC, passengers could order and receive pre-ordered meals via the IRCTC E-Catering portal with the assistance of Zomato.To order food and get it delivered to you on a railway station, users can:Choose an outlet by entering PNR and explore restaurants for their journeyComplete Order by choosing the food they like and then schedule order paying online or cash on deliveryThe meal will be delivered to the users’ seat.
