Coromandel International Ltd's latest results show strong revenue growth of 20.35% year-on-year, but a concerning 75.86% drop in net profit, indicating significant operational challenges and margin pressures. Investors should monitor future performance to determine if these issues are structural or seasonal.
Coromandel International Ltd's latest financial results for Q4 FY26 reveal a complex picture characterized by significant revenue growth alongside a sharp decline in profitability. The company reported net sales of ₹6,003.66 crores, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 20.35% compared to ₹4,988.39 crores in Q4 FY25. However, this revenue growth was overshadowed by a substantial drop in net profit, which fell to ₹139.93 crores, marking a decline of 75.86% from the previous year.
The operating margin for the quarter was recorded at 8.12%, down from 8.54% in Q4 FY25, indicating a reduction in operational efficiency. Additionally, the profit after tax (PAT) margin contracted dramatically to 1.91%, a significant decrease from 11.60% in the same quarter last year. This deterioration in profitability metrics is concerning, particularly given the context of rising costs and an unusually high tax rate of 49.64%, which more than doubled from 20.85% in Q4 FY25. The quarterly performance trend shows a troubling pattern, with net sales declining 31.62% from ₹8,779.45 crores in Q3 FY26, highlighting seasonal challenges within the fertiliser business. The company's return on equity (ROE) has also declined to 17.47%, down from an average of 20.41% over the past five years, suggesting reduced profitability on capital employed. Despite the revenue growth, the overall financial performance indicates that Coromandel International is grappling with significant operational challenges and margin pressures. The company has seen an adjustment in its evaluation, reflecting these recent developments. Investors may need to closely monitor future quarters to assess whether the recent performance is indicative of deeper structural issues or merely seasonal fluctuations.
