Are Sobha latest results good or bad?
Sobha's latest results show significant improvements in key metrics, with a notable increase in profit and sales; however, concerns arise from a reliance on non-operating income and a decline in performance in the subsequent quarter, indicating mixed outcomes.
Sobha has reported its financial results for the quarter ending March 2025, showcasing notable improvements in several key metrics compared to previous periods. The Profit Before Tax (PBT) reached Rs 26.09 crore, a substantial increase from an average PBT of Rs -8.66 crore over the prior four quarters. The Profit After Tax (PAT) also demonstrated significant growth, standing at Rs 40.86 crore, compared to an average of Rs 15.22 crore in the previous periods. The company's net sales achieved a five-quarter high at Rs 1,240.62 crore, reflecting a notable rise from the previous average of Rs 890.24 crore. Additionally, the operating profit (PBDIT) reached Rs 94.06 crore, marking the highest level in the last five quarters. The earnings per share (EPS) increased to Rs 3.82, indicating a positive trend in profitability for shareholders.
However, it is important to note that a substantial portion of the PBT, specifically 53.58%, was derived from non-operating income, which raises questions about the long-term sustainability of Sobha's business model. On a positive note, the company's debt-equity ratio improved to 0.26 times, the lowest in five half-yearly periods, suggesting a reduction in borrowing relative to equity capital.
In the subsequent quarter ending June 2025, Sobha experienced a decline in net sales, which fell by 31.33% compared to the previous quarter. The consolidated net profit also saw a decrease of 66.67% from the prior quarter. Operating profit, excluding other income, declined significantly by 74.69%, indicating challenges in maintaining operational performance. The operating profit margin, excluding other income, also contracted, reflecting a reduction from 7.58% to 2.79%.
Overall, Sobha's latest results indicate a mix of positive developments and emerging challenges, leading to an adjustment in its evaluation.
