TBZ's latest results are concerning, showing a 24.7% decline in Profit After Tax and rising interest expenses, indicating challenges in profitability and financial stability despite a slight increase in net sales.
Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri (TBZ) has reported its financial results for the quarter ending March 2025, which reflect several challenges in its operational performance. The company's Profit After Tax (PAT) for this quarter was Rs 9.49 crore, indicating a year-on-year decline of 24.7%. This suggests difficulties in sustaining profitability compared to the previous year.

The interest expenses for TBZ rose to Rs 17.00 crore, marking a significant increase of 28.69% quarter-on-quarter, which is the highest recorded in the last five quarters. This rise in interest costs may indicate increased borrowings, potentially affecting the company's financial stability.

Additionally, the Operating Profit to Interest ratio has fallen to its lowest level in five quarters at 2.13 times, suggesting a declining capacity to manage interest payments effectively. The Profit Before Tax (PBT) was reported at Rs 12.26 crore, also the lowest in the same period, while the Earnings per Share (EPS) decreased to Rs 1.42, reflecting reduced earnings for shareholders.

In terms of sales, TBZ experienced a net sales growth of 4.51% for the quarter, compared to 8.98% in the same period last year. The Operating Profit (PBDIT) also showed a year-on-year growth of 15.53%, although this is a decline from the previous year's growth rate. The Operating Profit Margin (excluding other income) was reported at 6.19%, which indicates a slight reduction from the prior year.

Overall, the financial results for TBZ indicate a challenging quarter with notable declines in profitability metrics and rising interest costs, leading to an adjustment in its evaluation.
