Vesuvius India's latest financial results for Q2 FY26 present a mixed picture. The company reported net sales of ₹546.24 crores, reflecting a sequential growth of 4.34% and a year-on-year increase of 23.16%. This indicates strong demand in the steel and foundry sectors, where Vesuvius's specialized refractory products are essential.
However, the profitability metrics reveal challenges. The net profit for the quarter was ₹61.54 crores, which represents a sequential decline of 2.32% and a year-on-year drop of 10.12%. The operating margin, excluding other income, contracted to 16.91%, down from 17.44% in the previous quarter and 17.79% a year ago. Additionally, the PAT margin fell to 11.27%, down from 12.03% sequentially and significantly lower than the 15.44% recorded in the same quarter last year. This margin compression is attributed to rising operational costs, particularly employee expenses and depreciation charges.

The company also experienced a decline in other income, which decreased to ₹7.23 crores from ₹8.45 crores in the prior quarter and from ₹23.12 crores a year ago. Despite maintaining a strong balance sheet with no long-term debt and a net cash position, the persistent margin erosion raises concerns about operational efficiency and pricing power in a competitive market.
