Axis Bank Reports Q3 FY24-25 Results Highlighting Record Net Interest Income Amid Profitability Challenges

Axis Bank has recently reported its financial results for the third quarter of FY24-25, with the announcement made on January 16, 2025. The bank's evaluation has undergone an adjustment, reflecting some noteworthy developments over the past three months.
In the December 2024 financials, Axis Bank achieved a record net interest income of Rs 13,605.85 crore, demonstrating consistent growth over the last five quarters. Interest earned also reached Rs 30,953.94 crore, indicating a favorable trend in this area. The operating profit before depreciation, interest, and tax (PBDIT) was recorded at Rs 4,561.65 crore, marking the highest level in the last five quarters, accompanied by an operating profit margin of 14.74%, which suggests enhanced operational efficiency.

However, the results also revealed a decline in profit before tax (PBT), excluding other income, which fell by 5.94% year-on-year to Rs 2,406.02 crore, highlighting some challenges. Additionally, non-operating income made up 71.28% of PBT, raising questions about the sustainability of the bank's income sources. Overall, while Axis Bank demonstrates strengths in its core business growth, it faces challenges related to profitability and its reliance on non-operating income.
