Bank of Maharashtra Reports Mixed Financial Results with Record Income and NPA Improvement in March 2025

Bank of Maharashtra has recently reported its financial results for the quarter ending March 2025, revealing a mix of positive developments and areas of concern. The bank's performance has been characterized by a notable decline in its score, which has adjusted from 28 to 20 over the past three months.
On the positive side, the bank has achieved its lowest Gross Non-Performing Assets (NPA) ratio at 1.74%, continuing a downward trend over the last five quarters. Additionally, the Net Interest Income reached a record high of Rs 3,116.43 crore, reflecting consistent growth in core business income. The Interest Earned also peaked at Rs 6,730.78 crore, indicating a favorable near-term sales trend. Operating Profit and Profit After Tax both reached their highest levels in five quarters, at Rs 1,539.08 crore and Rs 1,493.08 crore, respectively. Furthermore, the Earnings per Share (EPS) rose to Rs 1.94, showcasing improved profitability for shareholders. The Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) also reached a high of 20.53%, suggesting an enhancement in the bank's capital base relative to its risk assets.

Conversely, the bank's Non-Operating Income constituted 63.82% of its Profit Before Tax, raising concerns about the sustainability of its income sources.
