Central Bank of India Reports Strong Q3 FY24-25 Results Amid NPA Improvements

Central Bank of India has recently reported its financial results for the third quarter of FY24-25, with the announcement made on January 20, 2025. The bank has experienced an adjustment in its evaluation, reflecting a notable shift in its score over the past three months.
The financial highlights reveal a Profit Before Tax (PBT) of Rs 177.47 crore, which represents a significant change compared to the average PBT of Rs -167.20 crore from the previous four quarters. The Profit After Tax (PAT) has reached Rs 958.93 crore, indicating a consistent upward trajectory over the last five quarters. Furthermore, the Gross Non-Performing Assets (NPA) ratio has shown a favorable trend, decreasing to 3.86%, marking the lowest level in five quarters, while the Net NPA stands at 0.59%, also the lowest in the same timeframe.

Interest income has surged to Rs 8,509.44 crore, and the Earnings per Share (EPS) has reached Rs 1.10, suggesting a positive shift in profitability. However, it is important to note that a substantial portion of the PBT, specifically 87.38%, is derived from non-operating income, which raises questions regarding the long-term sustainability of the bank's business model.
