Central Bank of India Reports Mixed Financial Results Amidst Improving Asset Quality in March 2025

Central Bank of India has released its financial results for the quarter ending March 2025, showcasing a complex performance landscape. The bank's Profit After Tax (PAT) reached Rs 1,033.55 crore, marking a notable achievement as it has consistently grown over the last five quarters. Additionally, the Gross Non-Performing Assets (NPA) ratio improved to 3.18%, the lowest in the same period, indicating a reduction in stressed loans. The Net NPA also saw a favorable trend, settling at 0.55%, further reflecting the bank's efforts in managing its loan portfolio effectively.
However, the results also highlight areas of concern. The Profit Before Tax less Other Income (PBT) recorded a significant decline, reaching Rs -655.09 crore, which contrasts sharply with the previous four quarters' average. Furthermore, the bank's Net Interest Income fell to Rs 3,398.56 crore, the lowest in five quarters, suggesting challenges in its core business income. Operating Profit and Operating Profit Margin also hit their lowest points, indicating a decline in operational efficiency.
