CSB Bank's Q2 FY25 Financial Results Show Mixed Performance, Interest Earned at All-Time High
CSB Bank, a midcap private bank, has recently declared its financial results for the quarter ending September 2024. According to the latest report, the bank’s performance has remained flat in this quarter. However, there has been a significant improvement in its overall score, which has increased from -9 to 1 in the last three months.
One of the key highlights of CSB Bank’s financials for the quarter is its interest earned, which has been the highest at Rs 864.85 crore. This figure has been consistently growing each quarter in the last five quarters, indicating a positive sales trend in the near term.
On the other hand, the bank’s profit before tax (PBT) has fallen by -151.3% to Rs -12.94 crore, compared to the average PBT of the previous four quarters, which was Rs 25.24 crore. This shows a very negative trend in the near term for PBT. Additionally, the non-operating income for the quarter is 106.94% of the PBT, which means that the bank’s income from non-business activities is high. This may not be a sustainable business model in the long run.
Another concerning factor in CSB Bank’s financials is its net non-performing assets (NPA), which is the highest at 0.69% in the last five quarters. This indicates that the proportion of stressed loans given by the bank is increasing. Moreover, the non-operating income for the quarter has also been the highest at Rs 199.38 crore in the last five quarters. While this may seem like a positive aspect, it is important to note that increased income from non-business activities may not be sustainable.
Lastly, the bank’s capital adequacy ratio (CAR) has been the lowest at 22.74% in the last five quarters. This means that the bank’s capital base is deteriorating in comparison to its risk assets. Overall, CSB Bank’s financial performance for the quarter ending September 2024 has been mixed, with some positive and negative aspects. Investors are advised to hold their stocks, as suggested by MarketsMOJO.
