Indian Overseas Bank Reports Improved NPA Ratios and Record Net Interest Income in Q3 FY24-25

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released its financial results for the third quarter of FY24-25, highlighting several noteworthy developments. The bank has experienced an adjustment in its evaluation, reflecting a significant rise in its score over the past three months.
Among the key highlights, IOB reported a reduction in gross non-performing assets (NPA), which now stands at 2.55%, marking the lowest level in five quarters. The net NPA has also shown a favorable trend, decreasing to 0.42%, suggesting a decline in the proportion of stressed loans.

The bank's net interest income reached Rs 2,788.94 crore, achieving the highest figure in the last five quarters, while interest earned peaked at Rs 7,111.72 crore. Additionally, the operating profit before depreciation, interest, and tax (PBDIT) was reported at Rs 968.48 crore, with an operating profit margin of 13.62%, indicating enhanced operational efficiency.

Despite these positive indicators, IOB faces ongoing challenges. Non-operating income now constitutes 104.86% of profit before tax, raising questions about the sustainability of this income source. Furthermore, earnings per share (EPS) have fallen to Rs 0.00, reflecting concerns regarding profitability and returns for shareholders.
