Karur Vysya Bank Reports Record Low NPAs and Highest Quarterly Interest Income in Q3 FY24-25

Karur Vysya Bank has released its financial results for the third quarter of FY24-25, highlighting a notable performance amidst an adjustment in its evaluation, with its overall score shifting from 26 to 15 over the past three months. The bank has achieved a record low in gross non-performing assets (NPA) at 0.83%, continuing a trend of improvement observed over the last five quarters. The net NPA is reported at 0.20%, suggesting a reduction in stressed loans.
In terms of earnings, Karur Vysya Bank recorded its highest quarterly interest income at Rs 2,486.01 crore, reflecting consistent growth over the past five quarters. The profit before tax (PBT) reached Rs 200.40 crore, which represents a significant increase compared to the average PBT of the previous four quarters. Additionally, the profit after tax (PAT) also reached a record high of Rs 496.03 crore.

Despite these positive indicators, it is noteworthy that the bank's non-operating income accounts for 69.99% of its PBT, which raises questions regarding the sustainability of its business model. Overall, while Karur Vysya Bank shows strong core business growth, its reliance on non-operating income presents a cautionary aspect.
