Lumax Industries Reports Record Quarterly Sales Amid Rising Debt Concerns

Lumax Industries, a small-cap player in the auto ancillary sector, has recently reported its financial results for the quarter ending December 2024. The results indicate a notable shift in the company's evaluation, with its score reflecting a significant adjustment over the past three months.
The financial data reveals that Lumax Industries achieved its highest quarterly net sales at Rs 887.08 crore, marking a year-on-year growth of 40.42%. This upward trend in sales has been consistent over the last five quarters, suggesting a robust near-term sales trajectory. Additionally, the operating profit reached Rs 69.92 crore, also the highest in the same period, indicating a positive trend in operational efficiency.

On the profitability front, the profit before tax stood at Rs 40.41 crore, growing by 20.30% year-on-year, while the profit after tax was reported at Rs 33.48 crore, reflecting a 30.9% increase. Furthermore, the company's cash and cash equivalents reached Rs 49.57 crore, the highest in the last six half-yearly periods, signaling an improvement in short-term liquidity.

However, challenges remain, as the interest expense has risen to Rs 38.51 crore, indicating increased borrowings, and the debt-equity ratio has reached 1.32 times, suggesting a potential strain on liquidity due to higher debt levels.
