Punjab & Sind Bank Reports Improved Financial Metrics in Q2 FY24-25 Results

Punjab & Sind Bank has recently reported its financial results for the second quarter of FY24-25, with the announcement made on January 15, 2025. The bank has experienced an adjustment in its evaluation, reflecting a notable shift in its overall standing.
The financial highlights for September 2024 reveal a gross non-performing asset (NPA) ratio of 4.21%, which is the lowest recorded in five quarters, suggesting a reduction in stressed loans. The operating cash flow has reached Rs 1,748.88 crore, demonstrating consistent annual growth over the past three years. Profit after tax (PAT) has been reported at Rs 239.59 crore, showcasing a substantial change compared to the average PAT of the previous four quarters.

Furthermore, the net NPA ratio stands at a low of 1.46%, while net interest income has achieved Rs 872.85 crore, marking the highest level in five quarters. The credit deposit ratio is also robust at 71.43%, indicating effective loan generation relative to deposits. However, it is worth noting that the bank's non-operating income is significantly high at 116.79% of profit before tax, which raises questions regarding the sustainability of its business model.
