SJVN Reports Significant Decline in Financial Health Amid Rising Borrowing Costs in March 2025
SJVN has reported its financial results for the quarter ending March 2025, revealing significant declines in key metrics. Profit Before Tax fell to Rs -190.92 crore, while Profit After Tax dropped to Rs -127.60 crore. Interest expenses surged to Rs 586.63 crore, and Earnings per Share reached Rs -0.32.
SJVN, a large-cap player in the power industry, has recently reported its financial results for the quarter ending March 2025. The results indicate a notable shift in the company's financial health, with the score reflecting a revision in its evaluation from -9 to -17 over the past three months.The financial data reveals several concerning trends. The Profit Before Tax less Other Income (PBT) for the quarter stands at Rs -190.92 crore, marking a significant decline of 55.51% year-on-year. Similarly, the Profit After Tax (PAT) has also shown a drastic change, reported at Rs -127.60 crore, which represents a year-on-year decline of 198.4%.
Additionally, the interest expenses for the nine-month period have increased to Rs 586.63 crore, reflecting a growth of 51.93% compared to the preceding nine months, indicating a rise in borrowing costs. The operating profit to interest ratio has reached its lowest point in five quarters at 1.51 times, suggesting challenges in managing interest payments. Furthermore, the Earnings per Share (EPS) has also hit a low of Rs -0.32 in the last five quarters, indicating a decline in profitability and reduced earnings for shareholders.
