UCO Bank Reports Mixed Q3 FY24-25 Results Amidst Asset Quality Improvements

UCO Bank has released its financial results for the third quarter of FY24-25, revealing a mixed performance characterized by notable trends. The bank's gross non-performing assets (NPA) have reached a low of 2.91%, continuing a downward trajectory observed over the past five quarters. Additionally, the net NPA stands at 0.63%, indicating a reduction in stressed loans, which is a positive development for the bank's asset quality.
The bank's net interest income has shown significant growth, reported at Rs 2,377.68 crore, with consistent increases noted each quarter. Interest earned has also reached Rs 6,219.96 crore, reflecting a favorable sales trend. Profit after tax (PAT) has reached its highest level in five quarters, amounting to Rs 638.83 crore, suggesting enhanced profitability.

However, the bank faces challenges as well. Profit before tax (PBT) has recorded a decline, falling to Rs -189.75 crore, which represents a substantial shift compared to the previous four quarters. Additionally, non-operating income has surged to Rs 1,185.93 crore, constituting 119.05% of PBT, which raises questions about the sustainability of this income source.
