The overall market breadth was unfavorable, with an advance-decline ratio of 0.61.Among the top-performing sectors, the BSE Consumer Durables (BSE CD) led the way with a gain of 0.43%, driven primarily by Voltas, which surged by 2.45%. The Power sector also showed resilience, rising by 0.32%, bolstered by Adani Power's 1.78% increase. Similarly, the NIFTYPSUBANK sector matched this performance with a 0.32% uptick, thanks to Canara Bank's 1.43% gain.
Conversely, the NIFTYIT sector faced significant pressure, dropping by 1.47%, with Infosys leading the decline at 2.39%. The BSE IT sector also struggled, down 1.11%, primarily impacted by IRIS Business, which plummeted by 4.99%. The NIFTYMETAL sector fell by 0.95%, with National Aluminium dragging down performance with a 2.29% decrease.
Notably, the BANKNIFTY sector exhibited the best advance-decline ratio at 2.67, indicating a stronger performance relative to other sectors.
