The sector performance was notably uneven, with only two sectors advancing against a backdrop of 36 declining sectors, resulting in a stark advance-decline ratio of 0.06.The S&P BSE Telecommunication sector emerged as a standout performer, gaining 0.93%, driven primarily by Indus Towers, which saw an increase of 2.56%. The BSE Consumer Durables sector also managed a modest gain of 0.11%, with Titan Company contributing a 2.28% rise.
Conversely, the NIFTYCPSE sector faced significant challenges, declining by 1.70%, largely due to Power Grid Corporation's drop of 3.13%. The S&P BSE Utilities sector was similarly affected, with Reliance Power plummeting 7.24%, leading to a 1.56% decline in the sector. The NIFTYMETAL sector also struggled, down 1.44%, with Welspun Corp dragging the sector down by 2.94%.
Among the sectors, NIFTYFMCG and NIFTYIT showed the best advance-decline ratios, indicating relative resilience in a predominantly bearish market.
