BSE 500 Index Gains 0.40% as Energy Sectors Lead Market Performance
The BSE 500 index experienced a solid trading session, gaining 0.40% as 33 out of 37 sectors advanced, highlighting strong market breadth with an advance-decline ratio of 8.25. The NIFTYENERGY sector led gains at 0.80%, driven by Siemens Energy's 2.64% rise, while the S&P BSE Energy sector also performed well, boosted by C P C L's 5.73% increase. Conversely, the NIFTYPSUBANK and NIFTYIT sectors faced slight declines, primarily due to losses from Bank Of Baroda and TCS. The BSE CD sector recorded the highest advance-decline ratio at 12.0, indicating robust performance in select areas.
In a robust trading session, the BSE 500 index recorded a modest one-day return of 0.40%, reflecting a strong performance across various sectors. Out of 37 sectors, 33 advanced while only 4 declined, resulting in an impressive advance-decline ratio of 8.25.Leading the charge was the NIFTYENERGY sector, which gained 0.80%, buoyed by significant contributions from Siemens Energy, which surged by 2.64%. The S&P BSE Energy sector also performed well, rising by 0.72%, with C P C L leading the way with a notable increase of 5.73%. Additionally, the NIFTYCPSE sector climbed 0.68%, supported by Coal India, which saw a gain of 1.27%.
On the downside, the NIFTYPSUBANK sector faced a slight decline of 0.14%, primarily dragged down by Bank Of Baroda, which fell by 0.99%. The NIFTYIT sector also struggled, decreasing by 0.13%, with TCS contributing a loss of 0.60%. The NIFTYMEDIA sector experienced a minimal drop of 0.02%, impacted by PVR Inox, which declined by 0.70%.
Notably, the BSE CD sector showcased the best advance-decline ratio at 12.0, while NIFTYPHARMA followed with a ratio of 0.82, indicating a healthy market breadth in these sectors.
