Leading the charge was the NIFTYMEDIA sector, which surged by 3.26%, driven primarily by a remarkable 15.33% increase in Sun TV Network shares. The NIFTYPHARMA sector also showed strength, climbing 1.46%, bolstered by Granules India, which rose by 4.96%. Additionally, the BANKEX sector experienced a solid gain of 1.44%, with Kotak Mahindra Bank contributing a 3.45% increase.

On the downside, the NIFTYPSUBANK sector faced a slight setback, declining by 0.30%, largely due to a 1.88% drop in Indian Bank shares. Notably, the NIFTYIT sector showcased the best advance-decline ratio at 9.0, indicating a strong performance among its constituents, while NIFTYMNC maintained a balanced ratio of 1.0.
