The Indian stock market exhibited a mixed performance today, with the BSE Sensex opening at 83,835.10 and experiencing a slight decline of 103.61 points, or 0.12%. Currently, it is trading at 83,932.06, reflecting a marginal decrease of 0.01%. The index remains 1.62% shy of its 52-week high of 85,290.06 and is positioned above its 50-day moving average, which is also above the 200-day moving average.
In terms of market breadth, the advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 stood at 1.99x, with 332 stocks advancing compared to 167 declining. Small-cap stocks led the market, with the BSE Small Cap index rising by 0.65%. Mid-cap and BSE100 indices also saw gains of 0.3% and 0.17%, respectively.

Among the top gainers in the BSE500, Sterling & Wilson surged by 9.30%, followed by Intellect Design at 8.31% and Medplus Health at 7.73%. Conversely, the top losers included C P C L, which fell by 3.90%, Zensar Technologies at 3.85%, and Patanjali Foods at 3.75%.

Out of 37 sectors, 31 advanced, with the NIFTYPSUBANK sector leading the way with a gain of 1.43%. The BSE CD sector was the only notable decliner, down by 0.70%.
