Indian Stock Market Sees Mixed Trend, Mid-Cap Stocks Flat, Varun Beverages and Godrej Industries Among Top Gainers
The Indian stock market showed a mixed trend today, with mid-cap stocks remaining flat. Varun Beverages, Godrej Industries, and Banco Products emerged as top gainers in the large, mid, and small cap categories respectively. On the other hand, B P C L, Indraprastha Gas, and Honasa Consumer were the top losers in their respective categories. The SENSEX opened higher but soon fell, with the metal sector being the top gainer and the NIFTYIT sector seeing a decline. The advance-decline ratio was 0.68x, with the midcap and small cap segments also seeing a decline. However, the 50DMA is still above the 200DMA, indicating a bullish trend in the market.

Varun Beverages emerged as the top gainer in the large cap segment with a 4.49% increase, while Godrej Industries saw a 7.74% rise in the mid cap category. Banco Products was the top gainer in the small cap segment with a significant increase of 19.64%.
On the other hand, B P C L and Indraprastha Gas were the top losers in the large and mid cap categories respectively, with a decline of -2.98% and -20.13%. Honasa Consumer also saw a significant drop of -20.00% in the small cap segment.
The SENSEX, India's benchmark index, opened higher but soon fell by -194.85 points, currently trading at 77,385.46 with a loss of -0.25%. Out of the 38 sectors, 19 sectors advanced while 19 sectors declined, indicating a mixed trend in the market. The metal sector emerged as the top gainer with a 2.35% increase, while the NIFTYIT sector saw a decline of -2.12%.
The advance-decline ratio across BSE500 was 0.68x, with 201 advances and 297 declines. The midcap and small cap segments also saw a decline of -0.01% and -0.58% respectively, while the BSE100 segment fell by -0.15%.
In the BSE500 index, Garware Tech, Natl. Aluminium, and Godrej Industries were the top gainers with increases of 18.40%, 9.37%, and 7.74% respectively. On the other hand, Indraprastha Gas, Honasa Consumer, and Mahanagar Gas were the top losers with declines of -20.13%, -20.00%, and -15.08% respectively.
Despite opening higher, the Sensex fell sharply by -499.73 points and is currently trading below its 50 Day Moving Average (DMA). However, the 50DMA is still trading above its 200DMA, indicating a bullish trend in the market. Investors should keep a close eye on the market trends and make informed decisions while investing.
