The NIFTYMEDIA sector saw the highest increase of 2.26%, while the NIFTYFMCG sector saw a decline of 1.53%. The Nifty closed at 23,532.70 with a slight decrease of 0.11%, trading below its 50 Day Moving Average. Small cap stocks were the top performers, while large cap stocks traded flat. The overall advance decline ratio was positive, with the SMLCAP and MIDCAP caps seeing a rise and the BSE100 caps seeing a marginal decline. Network18 Media, DCM Shriram, and Eicher Motors were the top gainers, while SKF India, Astrazeneca Pharma, and P I Industries were the top losers in the BSE500 category. Eicher Motors emerged as the top gainer in the large cap category with a 6.46% increase, while Suzlon Energy saw a 4.99% increase in the mid cap category. Banco Products was the top gainer in the small cap category with a 19.83% increase. P I Industries, on the other hand, saw a decline of 5.41% in both the large and mid cap categories, while Venus Pipes saw a decline of 9.19% in the small cap category.
The overall advance decline ratio across BSE500 was 277 advances to 219 declines, indicating a positive market sentiment. The SMLCAP and MIDCAP caps saw a rise of 0.83% and 0.41% respectively, while the BSE100 caps saw a marginal decline of 0.01%.
In terms of top gainers and losers in the BSE500 category, Network18 Media emerged as the top gainer with an 8.48% increase, followed by DCM Shriram with an 8.06% increase and Eicher Motors with a 6.46% increase. On the other hand, SKF India saw a decline of 7.24%, followed by Astrazeneca Pharma with a 6.21% decline and P I Industries with a 5.41% decline.
