Advancing sectors outnumbered declining ones, with 21 sectors gaining ground compared to 17 that faced losses, resulting in an overall advance-decline ratio of 1.24.
The metal sector emerged as a standout performer, posting a gain of 1.42%. Hindustan Zinc was a key driver in this sector, surging by 3.97%. The realty sector also showed strength, climbing 1.36%, with SignatureGlobal contributing significantly with a 3.52% increase. The Nifty Metal index followed closely, rising by 1.33%, buoyed by the same strong performance from Hindustan Zinc.

Conversely, the technology sector faced challenges, with the Nifty IT index declining by 0.64%. Notably, Infosys fell by 0.75%, while Innovana Think and Cochin Shipyard dragged down the BSE IT and Nifty CPSE sectors, with losses of 3.30% and 3.78%, respectively. The Nifty Metal sector recorded the best advance-decline ratio of 14.0, highlighting its robust performance in contrast to the struggling Nifty IT sector.
