Nifty Gains 0.09% Near 52-Week High as Info Edge Soars 5.23%
The Nifty 50 and SENSEX indices experienced modest gains of 0.09% and 0.15%, respectively, while mid and small caps struggled, with declines of 0.15% and 0.42%. Info Edge (India) led large caps with a 5.23% increase, while Bhageria Industries surged nearly 20% in small caps. However, Dixon Technologies and Zee Media faced significant losses. The BSE IT sector was the top performer, rising 2.26%, contrasting with the declining telecommunication sector. Overall, the market showed a challenging advance-decline ratio, highlighting difficulties for many stocks.
In today's market, the Nifty 50 index closed at 25,891.40, reflecting a modest gain of 0.09%, while the SENSEX rose by 0.15% to settle at 84,556.40. Despite the overall positive movement in large caps, mid caps remained flat, with a slight decline of 0.15%, and small caps fell by 0.42%. Among the top performers, Info Edge (India) led large caps with a gain of 5.23%, while Bharat Forge rose by 4.58% in the mid cap segment. Bhageria Industries stood out in the small cap category, soaring by an impressive 19.98%. Conversely, Dixon Technologies faced a decline of 3.26%, and GE Vernova T&D dropped by 4.50%. Zee Media experienced the most significant loss among small caps, plummeting by 9.91%.
Sector-wise, the BSE IT sector emerged as the top gainer, advancing by 2.26%, while the S&P BSE Telecommunication sector lagged, declining by 0.72%. Overall, the advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 showed 202 advances against 294 declines, indicating a challenging day for many stocks.
