The Indian stock market displayed a mixed performance today, with the SENSEX trading at 84,841.40, reflecting a gain of 249.34 points or 0.33%. The index opened higher, gaining 137.72 points at the start of trading, and is now just 0.53% shy of its 52-week high of 85,290.06. The market remains robust, with the SENSEX trading above its 50-day moving average, which is also above the 200-day moving average.
Mid-cap stocks led the charge, with the BSE Mid Cap index rising by 0.66%. The advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 was notably positive, with 353 stocks advancing compared to 144 declining, indicating a healthy market breadth.

Among the top gainers, VLS Finance surged by 16.83%, while Emcure Pharma and Hero MotoCorp also posted gains of 4.65% and 3.40%, respectively. Conversely, Tata Motors faced a decline of 4.34%, making it the top loser in the large-cap category, followed by Ipca Labs and Fischer Medical, which fell by 3.28% and 9.95%, respectively.

In sector performance, 36 out of 38 sectors advanced, with the NIFTYPSUBANK sector leading the way with a gain of 1.37%, while the BSE IT sector experienced a slight decline of 0.15%.
