The Indian stock market displayed a mixed performance today, with the SENSEX trading at 84,783.97, reflecting a gain of 317.46 points or 0.38%. The index opened flat but gained momentum, climbing 253.93 points during the session. Notably, the SENSEX is now just 0.6% shy of its 52-week high of 85,290.06, and it remains above its 50-day moving average, which is also positioned above the 200-day moving average.
Among the sectors, 29 out of 38 advanced, with the METAL sector leading the way, up by 1.22%. Conversely, the BSE IT sector faced a slight decline of 0.29%. In terms of individual stocks, Asian Paints emerged as the top large-cap gainer, rising by 3.68%, while Ashok Leyland led the mid-cap segment with a gain of 4.99%. In the small-cap category, Prec. Wires (I) surged by an impressive 15.28%.

On the downside, Endurance Tech was the top mid-cap loser, falling by 7.59%, while Eco Recycling saw a decline of 10.03% in the small-cap space. The advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 stood at 270 advances to 228 declines, indicating a generally positive market sentiment.
