In terms of sector performance, only 7 out of 38 sectors advanced, while 31 sectors faced declines. The NIFTYPSUBANK sector was the top loser, down by 0.92%, whereas the S&P BSE Energy sector managed a modest gain of 0.27%. The advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 stood at 136 advances against 362 declines, indicating a challenging environment for investors.

Among individual stocks, ONGC emerged as the top large-cap gainer with a rise of 1.76%. In the mid-cap segment, Tata Communications gained 2.86%, while Repro India led the small-cap category with a notable increase of 13.12%. Conversely, Tata Motors faced significant losses, plummeting by 36.78%, marking it as the top large-cap loser.
