The Indian stock market experienced a mixed performance today, with the SENSEX trading at 84,628.16, down by 150.68 points or 0.18%. The advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 reflected a challenging day, with 219 stocks advancing against 278 declining. The MIDCAP and SMLCAP indices saw slight gains of 0.12% and 0.06%, respectively, while the BSE100 fell by 0.1%.
Among the top gainers in the BSE500, Newgen Software led with a remarkable increase of 11.37%, followed closely by TTK Prestige at 11.30% and C P C L at 9.53%. Conversely, the top losers included Bata India, which dropped by 5.93%, Vodafone Idea at 5.51%, and Supreme Industries at 4.63%.

Sector performance was also varied, with the METAL sector emerging as the top gainer, up by 1.30%, while the NIFTYREALTY sector faced the most significant decline, down by 1.05%. The Nifty index closed at 25,936.20, down 29.85 points or 0.11%, remaining 0.65% shy of its 52-week high. Notably, the Nifty Small Cap 100 index gained 0.02%, indicating resilience in smaller stocks.
