This positions the index 2.12% shy of its 52-week high of 85,290.06. Despite the downturn, the Sensex remains above its 50-day moving average, which is also above the 200-day moving average, indicating a longer-term bullish trend.
Out of 38 sectors, only 2 managed to advance, while a significant 36 sectors faced declines. The NIFTYCPSE sector was the hardest hit, falling by 1.62%, whereas the S&P BSE Telecommunication sector saw a modest gain of 0.76%.

In terms of individual stock performance, 3M India emerged as a standout gainer, surging by 17.09%, followed by Hitachi Energy at 13.83%. On the other hand, Fischer Medical faced the steepest decline among small caps, plummeting by 11.66%. The overall advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 reflected a challenging day for investors, with 129 advances compared to 369 declines. Mid-cap and small-cap indices also fell, with declines of 0.39% and 0.74%, respectively.
