The Indian stock market experienced a challenging day, with significant declines across most sectors. Out of 38 sectors, only 2 managed to advance, while a staggering 36 sectors faced losses. The NIFTYCPSE sector was the hardest hit, dropping by 1.70%, while the S&P BSE Telecommunication sector emerged as the top gainer, rising by 0.93%.
The SENSEX closed at 83,459.15, down by 519.34 points or 0.62%. Similarly, the Nifty index ended at 25,597.65, reflecting a decrease of 165.7 points or 0.64%. Notably, the Nifty is currently 1.98% away from its 52-week high of 26,104.20 and remains above its 50-day moving average, which is also above the 200-day moving average.

The advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 was unfavorable, with 137 advances against 360 declines. Small-cap stocks particularly dragged the market down, with the Nifty Small Cap 100 index falling by 0.82%. Among the top gainers in the BSE500, 3M India led with a remarkable increase of 16.29%, while the top loser was Home First Finance, which fell by 4.66%.
