The Sensex opened with a slight decline of 24.67 points and is currently trading at 84,437.39, reflecting a marginal increase of 0.04%. Notably, the index is just 1.01% shy of its 52-week high of 85,290.06 and remains above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages.
Among the top performers, United Spirits led the large-cap gainers with a rise of 5.75%, while Gillette India followed in the mid-cap category with a gain of 3.87%. Fineotex Chem stood out in the small-cap segment, surging by 16.20%. Conversely, NTPC was the largest loser among large caps, declining by 1.64%, and Bandhan Bank fell by 5.31% in the mid-cap space.

The broader market saw 292 stocks advancing against 202 declining, resulting in an advance-decline ratio of 1.45x across the BSE500. The BSE Small Cap index gained 0.3%, while the BSE Mid Cap and BSE100 indices rose by 0.27% and 0.03%, respectively. In sector performance, the AUTO sector emerged as the top gainer, increasing by 0.66%, while the S&P BSE Utilities sector faced the most significant decline, down by 0.76%.
