In a volatile trading session, the Sensex opened down by 135.88 points but made a strong recovery, gaining 453.46 points to settle at 83,785.24, reflecting a 0.38% increase. The index is now just 0.38% shy of its 52-week high of 84,099.53. Notably, the Sensex is trading above its 50-day moving average, which is also above the 200-day moving average, indicating a bullish trend.
Among the broader market, the advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 showed 146 advances against 353 declines. The BSE100 index rose by 0.13%, while small-cap and mid-cap indices fell by 0.61% and 0.62%, respectively.

In terms of individual stock performance, Whirlpool India led the gains in the mid-cap segment with a remarkable increase of 10.99%. Adani Power was the top large-cap gainer, rising by 4.77%. Conversely, Wipro faced significant losses, dropping by 5.40%, while Dhunseri Ventures plummeted by 12.20% in the small-cap category. The NIFTY IT sector was the worst performer, declining by 1.83%, while the BSE CD sector gained 1.50%.

Investors are also looking ahead to upcoming results from major companies like UltraTech Cement and ICICI Bank, both scheduled for October 18, 2025.
