The market showed a stark imbalance, with 136 stocks advancing against 545 declining, leading to a low advance-decline ratio of 0.25. In large-cap stocks, Restaurant Brands International performed well with a 1.94% increase, while Celestica saw a significant drop of 12.28%. Mid-cap and small-cap stocks also faced challenges, with notable declines from Northland Power and Mattr Corp., highlighting a tough day for the majority of stocks across all sectors.
The S&P/TSX 60 index experienced a decline of 1.71% today, although it has shown a positive trend over the past month with an increase of 1.61%. The market's performance was characterized by a significant disparity between advancing and declining stocks, with 136 stocks advancing compared to 545 that declined, resulting in an overall advance-decline ratio of 0.25.

In the large-cap sector, Restaurant Brands International, Inc. emerged as the top performer with a return of 1.94%, while Celestica, Inc. faced the steepest decline at -12.28%. Mid-cap stocks saw China Gold International Resources Corp. Ltd. leading with a return of 4.33%, whereas Northland Power, Inc. struggled with a notable drop of -27.24%.

Small-cap stocks were highlighted by Bragg Gaming Group, Inc., which achieved a remarkable return of 16.61%, while Mattr Corp. faced a decline of -21.36%. The advance-decline ratios for large, mid, and small-cap stocks were 0.41, 0.26, and 0.20, respectively, indicating a challenging day for the majority of stocks across all market capitalizations.
