Stock Market Remains Flat, Cipla Emerges as Top Gainer, Zee Entertainment Takes Major Hit

Today, the stock market has remained relatively flat, with large caps trading steadily. However, there have been notable gainers and losers. Cipla has seen the highest increase of 7.52% in the large cap category, while Zee Entertainment has taken a major hit with a 29.73% decrease. The SENSEX is currently trading at 70,620.53 with a loss of 803.12 points, and only 4 out of 40 sectors have seen an increase. The BSE100, SMLCAP, and MIDCAP caps have all seen a decline. Individual stocks such as Borosil Renewables and Zee Entertainment have seen significant gains and losses, respectively. The Sensex is currently trading above its 50-day moving average and investors are anticipating the upcoming results of Balkrishna Industries, DLF, and Tata Steel.

The top losing sector is NIFTYMEDIA with a 10.44% decrease, while NIFTYPHARMA has emerged as the top gaining sector with a 2.02% increase. The advance-decline ratio across BSE500 is at 0.22x, with 90 advances and 411 declines. The BSE100, SMLCAP, and MIDCAP caps have all seen a decline of 1.38%, 1.8%, and 2.41%, respectively. In terms of individual stocks, Borosil Renewables, Cipla, and Asahi India Glass have emerged as the top gainers in the BSE500 category, while Zee Entertainment, Ircon International, and Network18 Media have seen the biggest losses. After opening higher, the Sensex has seen a sharp decline of 1,250.77 points and is currently trading at 70,617.43, a decrease of 1.13%. The Sensex is currently 3.98% away from its 52-week high of 73,427.59. It is also trading above its 50-day moving average, with the 50 DMA trading above the 200 DMA. Investors are eagerly awaiting the upcoming results of Balkrishna Industries, DLF, and Tata Steel, which are scheduled to be announced on 24th January 2024. These results are expected to have a significant impact on the market and may lead to some changes in the current trends.
