Stock Market Sees Mixed Trend, Shree Cement and Ajanta Pharma Lead Gainers

Today, the stock market showed a mixed trend, with mid-cap stocks remaining flat. Shree Cement, Ajanta Pharma, and AVT Natural Products were the top gainers in the large, mid, and small-cap categories, respectively. On the other hand, Trent, Aditya Birla Fashion, and Coforge were the top losers. The Sensex opened higher but experienced a sharp fall and is currently trading at 73,883.83, 1.68% away from its 52-week high. Out of 40 sectors, only 7 saw an increase in stock prices. The advance-decline ratio was 0.37x, with 134 advances and 365 declines. Individual stocks like Ajanta Pharma, Godfrey Phillips, and BHEL saw gains, while Coforge, Aditya Birla Fashion, and CEAT saw losses. The Sensex, after opening higher, experienced a sharp fall of -1,133.99 points and is currently trading at 73,883.83, with a decrease of 0.97%. It is also 1.68% away from its 52-week high of 75,124.28. However, the index is still trading above its 50-day moving average (DMA), with the 50 DMA trading above the 200 DMA. Out of the 40 sectors, only 7 sectors saw an increase in their stock prices, while 33 sectors witnessed a decline. The top losing sector was TECK, with a decrease of 1.27%, while the top gaining sector was NIFTYPSE, with a 0.60% increase. The advance-decline ratio across BSE500 was 0.37x, with 134 advances and 365 declines. The mid-cap segment saw a decline of 0.45%, while the BSE100 and SMLCAP segments also witnessed a fall of 0.73% and 0.76%, respectively. In terms of individual stocks, Ajanta Pharma, Godfrey Phillips, and BHEL were the top gainers in the BSE500 index, with increases of 7.02%, 6.84%, and 6.80%, respectively. On the other hand, Coforge, Aditya Birla Fashion, and CEAT were the top losers, with decreases of 9.35%, 4.49%, and 3.88%, respectively. Investors are also keeping an eye on the upcoming results of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Kansai Nerolac, and IDBI Bank, which are scheduled to be announced on 4th May 2024. Overall, the market is experiencing a mixed trend today, with some sectors and stocks seeing gains while others are witnessing a decline.
