EFC (I) shows strong growth, but caution advised
EFC (I), a smallcap trading company, has recently caught the attention of investors as its stock call has been upgraded to 'Hold' by MarketsMOJO on December 19, 2023. The company has shown a growth in net profit of 248.11% and declared positive results for the last three consecutive quarters. Its PAT(Q) has grown at 112.5% and operating profit to interest(Q) is at its highest at 5.70 times. The net sales(Q) have also reached a high of Rs 97.76 crore.
Despite these positive results, the technical trend for EFC (I) is currently sideways, indicating no clear price momentum. However, the trend has improved from mildly bearish on December 19, 2023 and has generated a return of -0.1% since then. Institutional investors have also shown an increasing interest in the company, with a 6.51% increase in their stake over the previous quarter. These investors have better resources and capabilities to analyze the fundamentals of companies compared to most retail investors. EFC (I) has also outperformed the market (BSE 500) with a return of 68.56% in the last year, compared to the market's return of 20.81%. However, the company's long-term fundamental strength is weak with an average return on capital employed (ROCE) of 2.67%. Its ability to service its debt is also poor with a low EBIT to interest (avg) ratio of 0.68. Additionally, with a ROCE of 11.2, the company's valuation is considered very expensive with a 3.5 enterprise value to capital employed. Despite its recent market-beating performance, EFC (I) may not be a strong long-term investment option due to its weak fundamental strength and high valuation. Investors should carefully consider these factors before making any investment decisions.
