KPI Green Energy Reports Strong Growth Amid High Debt and Pledged Shares Concerns

KPI Green Energy, a midcap player in the power industry, has recently undergone an adjustment in its evaluation. The company reported very positive financial performance for the quarter ending Q4 FY24-25, showcasing a robust annual growth rate in net sales of 102.36% and an operating profit growth of 80.74%. Notably, KPI Green Energy declared a significant net sales figure of Rs 569.41 crore, reflecting a growth of 24.23% compared to the previous quarter.
The company has consistently delivered positive results for the last 15 consecutive quarters, with its operating profit to interest ratio reaching a high of 11.29 times. However, it is important to note that KPI Green Energy carries a high debt burden, as indicated by its debt-to-equity ratio. Despite this, the company has demonstrated a return on capital employed (ROCE) of 14.4, although it is considered to have a very expensive valuation with an enterprise value to capital employed ratio of 3.2.

While the stock has underperformed the market over the past year, generating a return of -14.58% compared to the BSE500's -0.19%, its profits have seen a notable increase of 98.7%. Additionally, a significant portion of promoter shares, approximately 45.49%, are pledged, which may exert further pressure on the stock in challenging market conditions.
