MarketsMOJO Upgrades Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services to 'Hold' Rating
Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, a leading NBFC, has received a 'Hold' rating from MarketsMojo due to technical improvements and a fair valuation. However, the stock is trading at a premium and has underperformed the market. Institutional holdings and slow growth are also concerns. Investors are advised to hold and monitor closely.
Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, a leading non-banking financial company (NBFC) in the finance industry, has recently received a 'Hold' rating from MarketsMOJO. This upgrade comes as the stock has shown a technical improvement, moving from a Mildly Bearish trend to a Mildly Bullish one on October 29, 2024. Additionally, the key technical factor of MACD has been Bullish since the same date. The company currently has a Fair valuation with a Price to Book Value of 1.7 and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 10.9. However, the stock is trading at a premium compared to its average historical valuations. In the past year, while the stock has only generated a return of 0.23%, its profits have increased by 10%, resulting in a PEG ratio of 1.6.
One concern for investors is the high institutional holdings at 40.76%. While this may indicate that these investors have better resources to analyze company fundamentals, it also means that retail investors may not have as much influence on the stock's performance.
In terms of long-term growth, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services has shown a slow rate of growth with Net Sales increasing by an annual rate of 8.70% and Operating profit at 9.45%. The company also reported flat results in September 2024, with the lowest Operating Cash Flow of Rs -18,448.55 Cr and the highest Debt-Equity Ratio of 5.43 times.
Despite these concerns, the stock has underperformed the market in the last year, generating a return of only 0.23% compared to the market's (BSE 500) return of 35.31%. With this in mind, MarketsMOJO has upgraded the stock to a 'Hold' rating, suggesting that investors should hold onto their current positions and monitor the company's performance closely.
