Metro Brands Adjusts Evaluation Score Amidst Flat Performance and Declining Profits

Metro Brands, a prominent player in the footwear industry, has recently undergone an adjustment in its evaluation score. This revision reflects a shift in the technical trends associated with the stock, moving from a mildly bullish stance to a more neutral position.
In terms of key financial metrics, Metro Brands has reported a flat performance for the quarter ending Q1 FY25-26, with net sales growing at an annual rate of 14.18% over the past five years, while operating profit has seen a more modest increase of 4.98%. The company's profit after tax for the latest six months stands at Rs 193.26 crore, reflecting a decline of 21.73%. Additionally, cash and cash equivalents have reached a low of Rs 101.00 crore, and the debt-equity ratio is at its highest level of 0.72 times.

Despite a strong return on capital employed (ROCE) of 21.7%, the stock's valuation appears expensive with an enterprise value to capital employed ratio of 13.3. Over the past year, Metro Brands has generated a return of -15.81%, while its profits have decreased by 13.1%. The company remains a significant entity in the sector, holding a market cap of Rs 29,979 crore, which constitutes 26.84% of the entire industry.
