Tarmat, a microcap construction firm, recently adjusted its evaluation following a significant rise in net sales to Rs 37.79 crore in Q4 FY24-25. Despite achieving record cash reserves and a profit after tax, the company struggles with long-term fundamentals and has underperformed the market over the past year.
Tarmat, a microcap company in the construction industry, has recently undergone an adjustment in its evaluation. This revision reflects a complex interplay of financial metrics and market performance indicators.

In the latest quarter, Q4 FY24-25, Tarmat reported a notable increase in net sales, reaching Rs 37.79 crore, which represents a growth rate of 82.74%. Additionally, the company achieved its highest cash and cash equivalents at Rs 9.83 crore and a profit after tax of Rs 0.57 crore, indicating some positive developments in its financial results.

However, the company faces challenges in its long-term fundamentals, highlighted by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of -32.56% in operating profits over the past five years. The ability to service debt remains a concern, with an average EBIT to interest ratio of 1.74. Furthermore, Tarmat's return on equity stands at 3.89%, suggesting limited profitability relative to shareholders' funds.

Despite these recent positive results, Tarmat has underperformed the market over the last year, with a return of -40.97%, significantly surpassing the BSE500's decline of -3.20%. The stock is currently trading at a premium compared to its peers' historical valuations, with a price-to-book value of 0.8 and a PEG ratio of 5.5.
