Beekay Steel Industries Faces Financial Challenges Amidst Declining Profitability and Rising Costs

Beekay Steel Industries has recently undergone a financial trend adjustment, reflecting a challenging performance in the iron and steel sector. For the quarter ending March 2025, the company reported net sales of Rs 330.50 crore, marking a notable achievement in revenue generation. However, several key financial metrics indicate underlying difficulties.
The company's interest expenses have surged to Rs 10.41 crore, growing significantly over the last six months. This increase has impacted the operating profit to interest ratio, which stands at a low of 5.67 times. Additionally, the profit after tax (PAT) has seen a substantial decline, falling to Rs 5.43 crore, which is an 82% drop compared to the previous four-quarter average. Other concerning indicators include a return on capital employed (ROCE) of just 9.90%, and the operating profit to net sales ratio is at its lowest, recorded at 8.97%.

In terms of stock performance, Beekay Steel has faced challenges compared to the Sensex, with a year-to-date return of -22.07%, contrasting sharply with the Sensex's positive return of 3.33%. Over the past year, the stock has also underperformed, with a decline of 13.69% against the Sensex's gain of 5.58%. Despite a strong long-term performance, the recent trends highlight significant hurdles for Beekay Steel Industries in the current market landscape.
