IRCTC Sees 16.15% Surge in Open Interest Amid Increased Trading Activity

Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) has experienced a notable increase in open interest today, reflecting heightened activity in the derivatives market. The latest open interest stands at 44,666 contracts, up from the previous figure of 38,455, marking a significant change of 6,211 contracts or 16.15%. The trading volume for the day reached 48,924 contracts, indicating robust participation.
In terms of market performance, IRCTC has outperformed its sector by 2.33%, despite a slight decline of 0.73% in its stock price today. The stock has shown a trend reversal after four consecutive days of gains. While it remains above its 5-day moving averages, it is trading below the 20-day, 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages, suggesting mixed signals in its short to medium-term performance.

The travel services sector overall has seen a downturn of 2.73%. Notably, delivery volume on November 12 reached 299,000 shares, reflecting a 29.5% increase compared to the 5-day average, indicating rising investor participation. With a market capitalization of Rs 56,852 crore, IRCTC continues to maintain a liquid trading environment, suitable for transactions of Rs 0.71 crore based on 2% of the 5-day average traded value.
