Taurus Energy publ AB is a Sweden-based company that researches ethanol and undertakes commercial development project involving ethanol production. The Company provides a new method for production of ethanol from forestry and agricultural waste. The method is protected by nine internationally-patented microbiological processes and makes it possible to produce ethanol using renewable raw materials, such as straw, stalks from maize and sunflowers, and waste material from forestry operations. The Company owns such patents, as a recombinant yeast for lignocellulose raw materials, a modified yeast consuming L-arabinose, metabolic engineering for improved xylose utilisation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and arabinose and xylose-fermenting Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains, among others. As of August 31, 2012, it operated through two subsidiaries, including Taurus Oil AB and Scandinavian Technology Group AB.
