Mutual funds strengthened their position in HDFC Bank, injecting an impressive Rs 8,400 crore into the banking giant in February, following a substantial Rs 13,500 crore investment in January. This upward trend saw mutual funds acquire around 6.01 crore shares, bringing their total holdings in HDFC Bank to 142.27 crore shares by February’s end.

Among the 40 mutual funds invested in HDFC Bank, 34 increased their stakes, underlining confidence in the bank’s performance. Leading the pack, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund made a significant purchase of Rs 2,983 crore, followed closely by Nippon India and HDFC MF, contributing Rs 1,043 crore and Rs 917 crore, respectively. Beyond HDFC Bank, mutual funds diversified their portfolios, investing in blue-chip stocks like Reliance Industries Ltd, Larsen & Toubro, Kotak Mahindra Bank, among others, while also exploring opportunities in mid-cap companies such as Whirlpool of India and Kalyan Jewellers India.

However, some stocks faced selling pressure, with Sun Pharmaceuticals, NTPC, and Mahindra & Mahindra experiencing notable divestment activities. Despite this, the overall investment landscape suggests mutual funds’ confidence in India’s economic resilience and growth potential, as they continue to navigate market dynamics with agility and foresight, positioning themselves for sustainable growth and value creation.
