BHEL Secures NTPC Contract for 1,600 MW Thermal Power Project, NTPC surged 4%.
State-owned engineering giant Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) announced on Tuesday that it has secured a significant contract from NTPC to construct the 1,600 MW Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP) Stage-III. The project is slated to be situated adjacent to NTPC’s existing 2,000 MW thermal power station (TPS) in Singrauli, located in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh.
BHEL, in a press release, highlighted the historical significance of Singrauli TPS, which was established by the company in 1982 and marked NTPC’s inaugural power plant in the state. The statement underscored the reliable performance of the machinery previously installed by BHEL at Singrauli since its inception.
The contract, awarded through International Competitive Bidding (ICB), encompasses the setting up of the 2×800 MW Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP) Stage-III on an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis. Key equipment for the project will be sourced from BHEL’s manufacturing facilities located in Haridwar, Trichy, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ranipet, and Bhopal.
