Advancing sectors outnumbered declining ones significantly, with 36 sectors gaining ground compared to just 2 that faced losses, resulting in an impressive advance-decline ratio of 18.0.Leading the charge was the NIFTY IT sector, which surged by 2.37%, driven primarily by Infosys, which saw a notable increase of 3.81%. The BSE IT sector also performed well, climbing 2.25%, with Birlasoft Ltd emerging as a standout performer, soaring by 7.11%. The TECK sector followed closely, up by 1.66%, again buoyed by Infosys.
On the downside, the OILGAS sector experienced a slight decline of 0.05%, with HPCL dragging the sector down by 2.80%. The BSE Healthcare sector also faced challenges, slipping by 0.01%, primarily due to Jupiter Life Line's drop of 4.25%.
Among the sectors, NIFTY FINANCE showcased the best advance-decline ratio at 19.0, indicating strong investor confidence, while the S&P BSE Telecommunication sector lagged with a ratio of 0.5. Overall, the market displayed resilience, with technology and finance sectors leading the way.
