The Indian stock market experienced a mixed performance today, with the Sensex trading at 81,527.80, down 0.23% after an initial drop of 141.32 points. Despite this decline, the index remains above its 50-day moving average, which is also positioned above the 200-day moving average, indicating a potential bullish trend in the longer term.
Mid-cap stocks showed resilience, with the BSE Mid Cap index gaining 0.06%. In contrast, small caps remained flat, while the BSE100 and small-cap indices saw slight declines of 0.11% and 0.1%, respectively. The advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 reflected a challenging day, with 227 stocks advancing against 269 declining.

Among the top gainers, Adani Power led large caps with a rise of 4.21%, while Oil India and TVS Electronics were notable mid-cap and small-cap performers, gaining 3.43% and 12.37%, respectively. On the downside, Tata Motors and Astral were the largest losers in their categories, dropping 3.36% and 2.68%. The NIFTYMETAL sector emerged as the top gainer, increasing by 0.88%, while NIFTYAUTO was the weakest sector, declining by 0.96%.
