The advance-decline ratio across the BSE500 reflected a challenging day for investors, with 181 stocks advancing compared to 316 declining, resulting in a ratio of 0.57x. Mid-cap stocks showed slight weakness, with the MIDCAP Caps falling by 0.17%, BSE100 Caps down by 0.24%, and SMLCAP Caps declining by 0.36%.

Among the top gainers in the BSE500, Hindustan Copper led with a rise of 5.95%, followed by eClerx Services at 5.06% and KIOCL at 4.91%. Conversely, Tata Investment Corporation was the top loser, falling by 4.55%, with Godrej Agrovet and Aditya Birla Fashion also experiencing declines.

The SENSEX traded at 81,499.11, down by 216.52 points or 0.26%, after opening lower. Despite the day's losses, the index remains above its 50-day moving average, which is also above the 200-day moving average, indicating a potential long-term bullish trend.
