Are Bihar Sponge Iron Ltd latest results good or bad?

11-Feb-2026

Bihar Sponge Iron Ltd's latest results show a significant net profit increase of 254.86% and strong revenue growth, but ongoing operational losses and heavy reliance on non-operating income raise concerns about the company's financial health. Investors should be cautious due to these structural issues.

Bihar Sponge Iron Ltd's latest results present a mixed picture. On one hand, the company reported a significant increase in net profit for Q3 FY26, reaching ₹6.21 crore, which is a remarkable 254.86% increase quarter-on-quarter. Additionally, revenue growth was strong, with a 63.79% year-on-year increase, bringing net sales to ₹87.30 crore, up 36.92% from the previous quarter.

However, despite these positive figures, there are serious concerns regarding the company's operational performance. The operating margin, excluding other income, remains negative at -1.32%, indicating that the core manufacturing operations are still loss-making. This marks the seventh consecutive quarter of operational losses, which raises questions about the sustainability of the company's profitability.

Moreover, a significant portion of the reported profits is derived from other income, which accounted for 134.78% of profit before tax. This reliance on non-operating income highlights the underlying challenges in the core business.

In summary, while the revenue and net profit figures may seem encouraging at first glance, the ongoing operational losses and dependency on other income suggest that the overall financial health of Bihar Sponge Iron Ltd is concerning. Investors should approach with caution, considering the structural issues that persist within the company.
